The Spanish champion dominates the first Sprint Race of the 2025 season, ahead of his brother Alex Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia

Marc Marquez made his best debut on the factory Ducati, taking victory in the Sprint Race of the Thai Grand Prix, the first round of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship. The Spanish rider, who started from pole position, led a perfect race, leaving behind his brother Alex Marquez (Team Gresini) and teammate Pecco Bagnaia, both on Ducati.

After a flawless start, Marc Marquez kept control of the race without smearing, with a steady pace that allowed him to cross the finish line without any problems. Thanks to this victory, the Spanish champion returns to the top of the World Championship for the first time since 2019, confirming himself as one of the main contenders for the title this season.

Marc Marquez’s words: “A perfect debut with Ducati.”

After the race, Marquez commented enthusiastically on his performance, “First pole with Ducati and first success, it was a perfect Saturday. The sensations on the track were great, I was able to create a gap right away and manage the race. I am happy to start this new path of mine with Ducati in this way. Tomorrow will be the long race, where our minimum goal will be to get on the podium, but if possible we will fight for the victory.”

Ducati dominates, Bagnaia satisfied with third place

Despite the difficulties he had in testing and in the previous days, Pecco Bagnaia managed to get on the podium, finishing third: “To get on the podium is great, especially considering how the tests went. I still have some difficulties in corner entry, but it’s only the first race of the season. I pushed hard, but when I realized I was risking too much, I settled for it. Third place is still a very good result to start the year.”

Other positions: Ogura surprises, Miller falls

Behind the three Ducati protagonists, Japanese rookie Ai Ogura took an excellent fourth place on the Team Trackhouse Aprilia, followed by Franco Morbidelli and Pedro Acosta. Fabio Quartararo finished seventh, ahead of Brad Binder and Joan Mir, while Johann Zarco completed the top ten. Marco Bezzecchi had a problem at the start, finishing 12th, followed by Maverick Vinales in 14th. Fabio Di Giannantonio retired, while Jack Miller crashed while leading a good race with the Yamaha.
