The entrepreneur attacks British politics and proposes new leadership for Reform UK. He also criticises the handling of the grooming gangs and calls for justice for Tommy Robinson

Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, has returned to harsh criticism of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. After accusing the Prime Minister of ‘facilitating child rape’, the South African tycoon, now an American citizen, continued to point the finger at UK policy, denouncing the way in which institutions have handled so-called ‘grooming gangs’. According to Musk, Starmer allegedly contributed to the cover-up of serious sexual abuse in the north of England during his years as chief prosecutor of the Crown Prosecution Service.

The case concerns criminal groups, often made up of men of Asian origin, who allegedly abused young girls between 2004 and 2013, particularly in Rochdale. Musk used his social ‘X’ to publicly denounce the PM and other members of the establishment, fuelling a heated debate about the lack of transparency in the investigation and the need for further action.

Farage in the crosshairs: ‘He doesn’t have what it takes to lead Reform UK’

Besides attacking the government, Elon Musk surprised many with an unexpected comment: he called for the replacement of Nigel Farage as leader of the sovereignist Reform UK party. ‘The Reform Party needs a new leader. Farage does not have what it takes to lead the party,’ Musk wrote in a post on “X”. The statement came as a surprise, considering that only a few weeks earlier Farage had spoken of a possible financial donation from Musk to support his political leadership.

Farage, who defended Musk’s freedom of speech after attacks on the British government, was the founder of the Brexit Party, now known as Reform UK. However, his figure, known for his strong support for Britain’s exit from the European Union, no longer seems to convince Musk, who believes a change is needed to effectively lead the party.

The call for justice for Tommy Robinson

Another hot topic raised by Musk concerns Tommy Robinson, a well-known anti-Islam activist who was jailed for contempt of court last October. Robinson, long a controversial figure in Britain for his views on immigration, was convicted of violating a court order by spreading defamatory statements against a Syrian refugee.

Musk has publicly expressed his support for Robinson, sharing numerous posts and tweets supporting his cause, and calling for his immediate release. This generated further stir, considering that Nigel Farage had also distanced himself from Robinson in the past. However, Musk’s campaign received support from some political figures, such as Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch, who argued for a national investigation into the alleged abuses linked to grooming gangs.

An unrestrained social campaign

In recent days, Elon Musk has stepped up his activity on ‘X’, publishing more than 60 posts regarding hot topics in British politics. As well as attacking Starmer and Farage, Musk has also targeted Labour minister Jess Phillips, arguing that her post should be ‘in jail’ for opposing a national investigation into past sexual abuse.

Musk’s social campaign has prompted several figures on the British right to support his views. The tycoon has also called for a re-run of the election, stating that ‘only reform can save Britain’. With his provocative style, Musk has highlighted sensitive and divisive issues, sparking a heated debate in the country between supporters of free speech and those who accuse him of populism.
