Hamas will hand over tomorrow the bodies of Shiri Silberman Bibas, his two sons and Oded Lifshitz, who were kidnapped during the 7 October attack. The IDF is preparing for a ceremony in their honour and the identification of the bodies.

Tomorrow Hamas will hand over the bodies of four Israeli hostages killed during their captivity in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) are preparing a military ceremony to honour the remains of Shiri Silberman Bibas, his two young sons, Ariel and Kfir, and 86-year-old Oded Lifshitz.

According to information released, the bodies will be transferred from Hamas to the Red Cross, which will hand them over to Israeli forces inside Gaza. Once received, they will be transported in coffins draped with the Israeli flag, with a rabbi present for a final observance.

After the ceremony, the bodies will be transferred to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute, where identification procedures will begin, which could take up to 48 hours. The families of the slain hostages will be updated on the identification timeline as more details become available.

The IDF has indicated that it will also investigate the exact causes of the hostages’ deaths, as Hamas claims have not been verified at this time.

The exact time of the handover of the bodies is not yet clear, but Israeli forces expect that it may take place at a time similar to recent releases of live hostages.

On Saturday, Hamas is expected to release six Israeli hostages still alive, including Tal Shoham, Omer Shem-Tov, Eliya Cohen, Omer Wenkert, Avera Mengistu, and Hisham al-Sayed, with the latter and Mengistu captive for over a decade.
