The supreme leader breaks his silence from a bunker in Tehran. Trump’s threats are in his sights: ‘We know where he is, but we won’t kill him for now.’
After days of silence, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has reappeared with a video message intended to further inflame the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel. ‘Israel has made a huge mistake and will be punished. The President of the United States is threatening us, but Iran will never surrender,’ said the 86-year-old Iranian Supreme Leader in a firm but visibly strained tone.
In the video, broadcast on official Iranian channels, Khamenei openly accuses Israel of starting the war and confirms that Tehran will respond firmly. The leader called Donald Trump’s demand for surrender ‘unacceptable,’ as Trump had called for Iran’s unconditional capitulation in recent days.
Sources inside Iran report that Khamenei has been in a bunker in north-eastern Tehran for days, a protected refuge following the intensification of tensions and the risk of targeted attacks. This hypothesis is confirmed by the quality of the video: the image shows the leader sitting in front of an anonymous curtain, with audio disturbed by a metallic echo and lacking technical devices, elements that suggest the recording was made in a shielded environment.
For his part, President Donald Trump reiterated that the United States and Israel know Khamenei’s location: ‘We know where he is, but we’re not killing him for now,’ he said in an interview. These words increase diplomatic and military tension between the two powers.
In the video, Khamenei appears visibly fatigued, with a less vigorous tone than in his recent public appearances. However, the message is clear: Tehran has no intention of backing down and is preparing to strike, fuelling a scenario of growing instability in the Middle East.
