Der Bundespräsident hat dem Antrag von Scholz stattgegeben und den Termin für Neuwahlen nach dem Misstrauensvotum gegen die Kanzlerin festgelegt
Der deutsche Bundespräsident Frank-Walter Steinmeier hat den Bundestag aufgelöst und Neuwahlen für den 23. Februar 2025 angekündigt. Diese Entscheidung geht auf einen Antrag von Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz zurück, dem das Misstrauensvotum gegen die Regierung am 16. Dezember vorausgegangen war. Steinmeier betonte, wie wichtig eine „handlungsfähige Regierung“ und „verlässliche Mehrheiten“ in einer Zeit der politischen Unsicherheit seien. Der im Einvernehmen mit den Fraktionsvorsitzenden von SPD und CDU/CSU festgelegte Wahltermin entspricht den Vorgaben des Grundgesetzes, das Neuwahlen innerhalb von 60 Tagen nach dem Misstrauensvotum vorsieht.
