Donald Trump signs executive order declassifying Kennedy and King files

The former US president makes public documents on the assassinations of Kennedy, King and other leaders, and speaks out on domestic and international political issues

Donald Trump signed an executive order to declassify files related to the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr, calling it a step that has been overdue for decades. ‘This is a big deal. All will be revealed,’ Trump declared from the Oval Office. The three leaders, central figures in American history, were assassinated between 1963 and 1968 in circumstances that have fuelled theories and controversy for years.

At the same time, Trump granted pardons to 23 anti-abortion protesters who were prosecuted during the Biden administration, pointing out that many of them are elderly and should not have been subjected to such prosecutions. ‘It is a great honour to sign this document,’ he said.

Focus on Gaza and the Middle East
Asked about the Middle East, Trump called the situation in Gaza ‘treacherous’ and expressed caution about maintaining the truce. ‘We’ll see if it holds. If something happens, they won’t be happy,’ he said, referring to the militant group Hamas.

Trump’s order represents a significant move towards historical transparency and confirms his commitment to responding to domestic and foreign policy issues.
