A sniper opened fire on the federal anti-migrant centre Dallas, injuring a third migrant; motive unknown

A shooting shook Dallas today, targeting the office of ICE, the federal agency in charge of the Trump administration’s immigration policies. According to an ICE spokesperson, a sniper shot three detained migrants, killing two, while the third is hospitalised. The perpetrator then committed suicide by shooting himself in the head, according to police sources cited by Fox News.

The sniper, described as a white man, was positioned on a roof near the facility, but it is unclear whether it belonged to the ICE building or an adjacent property. Madison Sheahan, deputy director of the agency, said no federal agents were injured and described the situation as “very fluid”, stressing that the motive remains unknown.

Sheahan added that violence of this kind is not new to ICE, citing other incidents this year against the agency’s facilities. On X, US Vice President DJ Vance condemned the attack and prayed for the victims and their families, echoing the message of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who reiterated the urgency of stopping violence against ICE forces.

The incident confirms the growing tensions surrounding anti-migrant policies and the operational difficulties of the federal detention centre in Dallas.
