Security tightened for the Oscars ceremony after FBI warning

Academy Awards organizers increase security at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles after the FBI alerted California authorities to a possible Iranian drone attack targeting the West Coast

Organizers have tightened security for the Oscars ceremony after FBI warning, ahead of the Academy Awards scheduled for Sunday, March 15 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

The decision comes after the FBI alerted California law enforcement about the possibility of an attack by Iran, potentially involving drones targeting the U.S. West Coast in response to American military actions.

As Hollywood prepares to roll out the red carpet with Conan O’Brien hosting the ceremony, the creative team behind the 98th Academy Awards addressed security concerns during a press conference.

“We believe this show has one of the best teams in the industry across every field, and that includes security,” the production team said. “Every year we monitor what is happening around the world. We have the support of the FBI and the LAPD, and it is a very close collaboration.”

According to the organizers, security tightened for the Oscars ceremony after FBI warning is part of a broader effort to ensure the event runs smoothly while guaranteeing the safety of everyone involved.

“The ceremony has to run like clockwork, but we want everyone attending — from nominees to the public standing behind the barricades — to feel safe, protected and welcomed,” the team said. “It is our responsibility as a production team to make that happen. We have a very strong relationship with the authorities, and it is a responsibility we take very seriously.”

As preparations continue, security tightened for the Oscars ceremony after FBI warning will also include operational checks ahead of the event. A red carpet walkthrough, reviewing procedures with press staff and studio representatives, is scheduled for today.
