UN condemns Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure

The United Nations strongly criticizes Moscow’s missile and drone strikes on critical infrastructure in Ukraine

UN condemns Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure – The United Nations has strongly condemned the recent Russian attacks targeting civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Secretary-General António Guterres emphasized that these missile and drone strikes have caused civilian casualties and disrupted essential services for millions of Ukrainians during a time of severe humanitarian need.

“These continuous Russian attacks on critical civilian infrastructure in Ukraine are unacceptable and unjustifiable, regardless of where they occur. They must stop immediately,” Guterres stated, underlining that such actions violate International Humanitarian Law.

According to UN reports, at least four people were killed in Kyiv, while approximately 25 others, including three children, were injured. Thousands of residents were left without electricity, and a building belonging to the Qatari Embassy sustained damage.

Separately, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems intercepted 59 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory in recent hours. Eleven of these were downed in the Black Sea region, and ten in the southern Krasnodar area. In Volgograd, debris from a drone strike caused a fire at a fuel depot in Oktyabrsky, prompting evacuations.

In Ukraine, three people were injured in the Dnipropetrovsk region during recent Russian drone attacks. One man was injured in Dnipro, and a man and woman in Kryvyj Rih, where fires and power outages occurred due to the strikes. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 27 drones in total.
