The leader of the new Syrian administration, Ahmed al-Sharaa, announces the victory of the revolution and invites the people to celebrate in the squares

Ahmed al-Sharaa, leader of the new Syrian administration, called on citizens to celebrate the ‘victory of the revolution’ after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime. In a video address on Telegram, al-Sharaa called on Syrians to celebrate without resorting to gunfire and pledged his commitment to the reconstruction of the country.

Meanwhile, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reached an agreement with Hayat Tahrir al Sham (Hts), the group that led the uprising. The agreement stipulates that the territories under the control of the Fds will not be targeted by the insurgents, and a Kurdish delegation will travel to Damascus for negotiations with the new authorities.

On the Israeli side, Defence Minister Israel Katz ordered the armed forces to remain on Mount Hermon for security reasons, despite difficult winter conditions, following the developments in Syria.
