Iranian missile attack on Jerusalem left fragments of intercepted ballistic missiles scattered across several areas of the city after strikes launched by Iran on March 16, 2026.

According to Israeli police and emergency services, debris from missiles intercepted by air defenses fell in different neighborhoods of the capital. Some fragments landed close to major symbolic and institutional sites.

One piece of debris was reported near the National Library, not far from the Knesset. Other fragments were found in the Old City, close to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Firefighters said a large fragment from an intercepted missile struck a residential building in East Jerusalem, causing structural damage.

The Iranian missile attack on Jerusalem also resulted in a minor injury. A man was slightly hurt after touching a still-burning fragment of missile debris. Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency medical service, said the person suffered a minor burn to the hand.

Authorities warned residents not to approach any missile fragments and urged the public to alert security services immediately if debris is found.
