Artificial Intelligence paints a golden future in “Trump Gaza,” but reactions in Italy are harsh. The video was posted on x in Trump’s profile
“No more tunnels, no more fear. The ‘Trump Gaza’ has finally arrived.” With these words, in a video created with Artificial Intelligence and accompanied by a specially composed song, Donald Trump presented his vision of a “golden” future for the Gaza Strip. Posted on his official social profiles, the footage shows a Gaza transformed into a sort of Miami of the Middle East, full of shining beaches, clubs, smiling children and even dancing odalisques. In stark contrast to the current devastation, the video imagines “what will happen after 2025,” when the Strip will be transformed into a luxury resort called “Trump Gaza.”
Prominent among the more surreal images in the video are Elon Musk tossing bills on the beach and Donald Trump relaxing poolside with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu while sipping cocktails. The whole thing is presented as a vision of a Gaza transformed into the “No. 1 Riviera” of the Middle East.
Reactions to the video, however, were strong and immediate, especially in Italy. Giuseppe Conte, leader of the 5-Star Movement, called the video “hallucinating,” accusing Trump of turning a humanitarian tragedy into an “outlandish plan for Gaza’s future.” Conte also criticized the silence of the international community and called on the Italian government to take a stand against Israel’s expansionist aims on the West Bank.
Harsh criticism also came from members of the Democratic Party. Giuseppe Provenzano called the video “obscene and aberrant,” calling for a firm reaction from Europe and stressing the inappropriateness of the Italian government’s silence. Angelo Bonelli of Europa Verde also expressed outrage, calling the video “a violent offense against the Palestinian people” and demanding that Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni take a clear position in Parliament.
Other politicians, such as Maurizio Lupi of Noi Moderati, deemed the demands for clarification addressed to the Italian premier excessive, arguing that the issue should be addressed to the White House. However, Benedetto Della Vedova of +Europa insisted that Meloni should clarify the Italian position, pointing out the government’s silence on other international issues as well, such as the war in Ukraine.
Criticism of the video also multiplied among Action members, with Federica Onori calling the content of the film “creepy and outrageous,” and from Nicola Fratoianni of Sinistra Italiana, who described the initiative as a sign of Trump’s arrogance in treating the world as his property.
Finally, Ivan Scalfarotto of Italia Viva commented on X, calling the video “blasphemous” and painting a dystopian picture in which Gaza is reduced to a “tacky version of Las Vegas,” while statesmen give way to developers.
