Denmark Planned Sabotage of Greenland Runways Amid U.S. Tensions
Danish troops reportedly prepared to destroy key airstrips in Greenland following Donald Trump’s statements, according to local reports.
Denmark reportedly developed plans to blow up runways in Greenland amid concerns sparked by comments from former U.S. President Donald Trump. In January, Danish troops were reportedly sent to Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq with explosives and blood supplies to prepare for potential combat, according to Danish broadcaster Dr.
Citing multiple high-ranking government and military sources in Denmark, France, and Germany, the report states that Denmark sought political support from allied countries to coordinate its response. Officials have not publicly commented on the details of the preparations.
The plan included sending a small contingent of elite troops from Denmark, alongside French forces trained for mountain and arctic operations. The deployment was officially presented as part of joint military exercises named Operation Arctic Endurance.
Sources indicate that the planning accelerated after geopolitical events, including U.S. actions in Venezuela and statements by Trump regarding Greenland. The operation aimed to secure Greenlandic airstrips against possible U.S. intervention until tensions eased.
Following the escalation, U.S. rhetoric toward Greenland reportedly softened, and global attention shifted to other international operations in which the United States and its allies were engaged.
