Nationalist crimes committed by Jews in the West Bank: 1,720 incidents

According to Israeli Defense Forces data, the phenomenon has been growing rapidly since October 7, 2023. The IDF reports shortcomings in police and Shin Bet action and fears an impact on the stability of the area

The number of nationalist crimes committed by Jews in the West Bank has risen steadily and sharply since October 7, 2023, reaching a total of 1,720 incidents. This was reported by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), quoted by the Haaretz newspaper, which speaks of a growing trend and a response deemed insufficient by the Israeli police and the Shin Bet internal security service towards those responsible.

According to the defense apparatus, the evolution of the phenomenon directly affects the security and stability of the area. The increase in incidents has also led high-ranking army commanders to express doubts about the police’s ability to handle the situation effectively. The IDF warns that if the attacks continue with this intensity, it may be necessary to divert a significant number of troops, both regular and reserve, to the region.

Official data indicate that in 2025 alone, there were 845 incidents of nationalist crimes committed by Jews in the West Bank, with 200 people injured and four killed. Compared to the previous year, this represents an increase of about 25%: in 2024, there were 675 reported cases, with 149 Palestinians injured and six killed.

The overall figures collected by the Israeli defense since October 7, 2023, therefore confirm a steady increase in nationalist crimes committed by Jews in the West Bank, with operational and security repercussions that are worrying military leaders. Internal assessments emphasize the need to strengthen prevention and enforcement activities to prevent further deterioration of the situation on the ground.
