Human Rights Watch denounces: the Israeli blockade of Gaza is an instrument of extermination
The total blockade imposed by Israel since March 2 turns the Gaza Strip into an “extermination zone,” HRW denounces. Criticism also for plans to squeeze the population
Human Rights Watch called Israel’s total blockade of the Gaza Strip, in effect since March 2, an “instrument of extermination.” Federico Borello, acting executive director of HRW, said that “the Israeli blockade has transcended military tactics to become an instrument of extermination.”
In the statement, Borello also criticized plans to compress Gaza’s approximately 2 million inhabitants into an even smaller area, making the rest of the territory uninhabitable.
The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, which is already extremely critical, is thus likely to worsen further due to the restrictions imposed.
