The official confirmation came from the New York City Chief Medical Examiner’s Office, which classified the death as occurring from natural causes. The actress, known for her roles in cult series such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, had been found lifeless last February in her New York flat by her mother.
No crime suspected, autopsy ruled out
From the outset, the police had ruled out the possibility of a criminal act or suspicious circumstances. For this very reason, an autopsy had not been ordered, but toxicological tests were carried out, which helped to clarify the cause of death.
