London, blackout paralyses the underground: three lines stopped and delays on six others
A power outage caused inconvenience for thousands of commuters this afternoon: Bakerloo, Suffragette and Weaver lines are down
A power failure brought the London Underground to its knees this afternoon, leaving three lines completely down and causing heavy delays on six others during rush hour. The cause was a power failure that disrupted service on a large part of the network operated by Transport for London (TfL).
In particular, the Bakerloo, Suffragette and Weaver lines are blocked, while the Mildmay operates at reduced capacity. Severe delays are being experienced on the Elizabeth, Jubilee, Piccadilly, Northern and Waterloo & City lines, affecting thousands of transit commuters.
‘We apologise to affected passengers and are working to restore service across the entire network as soon as possible,’ TfL said in an official statement. However, the other eleven metro lines remain operational without any problems.
