The “Buffy” and “Gossip Girl” actress passed away last February at the age of 39. The death was declared to be of natural origin by the New York medical examiner

Michelle Trachtenberg died of complications related to diabetes. The official confirmation came from the New York City Chief Medical Examiner’s Office, which classified the death as occurring from natural causes. The actress, known for her roles in cult series such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, had been found lifeless last February in her New York flat by her mother.

No crime suspected, autopsy ruled out

From the outset, the police had ruled out the possibility of a criminal act or suspicious circumstances. For this very reason, an autopsy had not been ordered, but toxicological tests were carried out, which helped to clarify the cause of death.

The signs on social media and the actress’s denial

In the last weeks of her life, some photos posted by Trachtenberg on social media had attracted the attention of fans, who were concerned about the visibly thinner appearance of the actress’s face.
