Overnight bombardment against a health facility in northern Gaza City. Hamas speaks of ‘war crime’

In the night between Saturday and Sunday, an Israeli air raid hit Al Ali Hospital, also known as Baptist Hospital, located in northern Gaza City. This was reported by the Hamas-led local government in an official statement. According to the note, the attack caused the complete destruction of the building that housed the reception and emergency room, necessitating the immediate evacuation of patients and injured people inside the facility.

Hamas accuses Israel: ‘War crime with American complicity’

Hamas condemned the attack calling it ‘a new war crime’, accusing Israel of violating ‘all laws, rules and humanitarian norms’. The group also pointed the finger at the United States, speaking of ‘American cover-up and complicity’ in Israeli military operations conducted in the Gaza Strip.

No casualties reported, the building evacuated shortly before the raid

No casualties are reported at the moment, thanks in part to the evacuation that took place a few minutes before the attack, as reported in the same statement by the local authorities. Video footage circulated online shows high flames and thick smoke rising from the stricken building, fuelling international reactions and accusations.

Evacuation warnings after rocket fired from Gaza into Israel

The Times of Israel reports that the Israeli army had ordered the evacuation of several neighbourhoods in the vicinity of Nuseirat prior to the night shelling in central Gaza. The order reportedly came after a rocket was fired from that area at Israeli territory.
