Gaza, 15 aid workers killed: UN calls for war crimes investigation
High Commissioner Volker Turk denounces the Israeli attack on a medical convoy to the Security Council. Pressure for an independent investigation and to identify those responsible
The killing of 15 aid and medical workers in Gaza has raised new allegations against Israel, with calls for an independent investigation into possible war crimes. Raising the alarm was the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, who addressed the UN Security Council, calling for justice for the victims.
The attack, which took place in recent days, hit a medical convoy in the Strip, sparking international condemnation and fuelling debate about the Israeli army’s conduct in the conflict. ‘There must be an independent, prompt and thorough investigation into the deaths, and those responsible for any violations of international law must be held accountable,’ said Turk.
The incident comes amid growing tension, with allegations of violations of international humanitarian law and an increasingly dramatic humanitarian toll in Gaza.
