Israel not only stops aid to Gaza: Smotrich also announces electricity and water cuts

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announces an end to aid to Gaza and plans tougher measures. Hamas ‘They want to collapse the agreement at all costs’

Finance Minister and leader of the Religious Zionism party, Bezalel Smotrich, announced the decision to stop aid to the Gaza Strip, describing it as the ‘first step in the right direction’. Smotrich stated that this move is a result of the policy pursued by the Israeli government and security cabinet, stressing that ‘this is only the beginning’.

According to Smotrich, the next step involves cutting off electricity and water to Gaza, followed by a massive and rapid attack aimed at seizing territory and implementing the Trump plan to encourage population migration out of the Strip.

Deir al-Balah: water cut-off allegations

Meanwhile, the municipality of Deir al-Balah, located in the centre of the Gaza Strip, has accused Israel of interrupting the operation of the town’s two desalination plants, compromising water distribution. The Israeli authorities, however, rejected these accusations, claiming that it was a simple technical malfunction of the facility.

The Hamas accusations

From Doha, Hamas publicly accused Israel of wanting to collapse the ongoing ceasefire agreement in Gaza. In a video statement, the group denounced that Israel is trying to bring the situation to a head by pushing to extend the first phase of the agreement.

Osama Hamdan, a senior Hamas official, reiterated in a televised statement that ‘the occupation is trying to overturn the agreement through alternative proposals’.
