Trump supports deployment of peacekeeping troops to Ukraine
Donald Trump expresses support for sending European forces to Ukraine as part of a peace agreement
U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he does not oppose the idea of deploying European troops to Ukraine for peacekeeping operations ahead of a possible peace agreement. During a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Trump confirmed his support for the proposal, saying, “Having troops there would be fine, I would have no objection.”
The statements suggest that the U.S. administration would have no objections regarding the decision of European countries to send peacekeeping forces to Ukraine, with the goal of ensuring security following any agreement between Kiev and Moscow.
Trump also made it clear that he has no intention of withdrawing U.S. troops from European countries, adding that no one has ever asked him to do so. Finally, the president commented positively on the recent talks between the United States and Russia, calling them “went very well.”
