Putin accused of poisoning Navalny, scientific evidence confirmed by the UK

The UK announces evidence confirming the use of a lethal nerve agent against Alexei Navalny while he was detained in Siberia

Accusations directed at Putin – According to British authorities, Vladimir Putin ordered the poisoning of Alexei Navalny, leader of the Russian opposition, who died two years ago in a penal colony in Siberia.

Investigations indicate that Navalny was poisoned with epibatidine, a natural neurotoxin found in Ecuadorian poison dart frogs, which is 200 times more potent than morphine. The substance has historically been used by indigenous tribes in blowguns for hunting.

International cooperation

The scientific evidence will be submitted to the United Nations Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. The United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, and France have collaborated to establish the precise causes of Navalny’s death at the age of 47.

The widow’s statement

Yulia Navalnaya, Alexei Navalny’s widow, told the Munich Security Conference: “It was the most horrible day of my life. Now we have scientific evidence confirming what we suspected: my husband was poisoned as Putin’s number one enemy.”
