A car plowed into pedestrians at high speed along the Planken shopping street in downtown Mannheim, Germany, killing at least 2 people and injuring 25 others, 15 of them seriously. The incident generated a huge operation by local security forces, with authorities still trying to clarify whether it was an accident or an intentional attack.
Driver arrested, investigation ongoing
The driver of the vehicle was immediately arrested, but authorities have not yet released details on the motivation for the act.
