The Chinese president declines an invitation to the 20 January ceremony, while Trump has extended invitations to Viktor Orban and Giorgia Meloni

Chinese President Xi Jinping has decided not to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony on 20 January in Washington, according to CNN, which cites sources close to the Chinese government. The invitation had been extended back in November, immediately after Trump’s election victory, as revealed by CBS.

Meanwhile, Trump’s team is inviting other international leaders, including Viktor Orban, the Hungarian prime minister, who recently met Trump at Mar-a-Lago and is still considering whether to attend the ceremony. Furthermore, an invitation was extended to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during a meeting with Trump in Paris, where the president-elect expressed his appreciation for Meloni, calling her ‘full of energy’.
