The IDF announces a wave of air strikes against Iranian military sites and infrastructure. Among the victims are the head of intelligence for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and two senior officers

In a new escalation of the regional conflict, the Israeli army (IDF) has announced that it has carried out a wave of air strikes against Iran, targeting numerous military sites and strategic infrastructure across the country. According to the Israeli armed forces, the targets included weapons production centres belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), its elite Quds Force and other components of the Iranian military apparatus.

Tehran confirms: three senior intelligence officials killed

Iranian state media confirmed that the head of intelligence for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Brigadier General Mohammad Kazemi, was killed during one of the attacks. His deputy, Hassan Mohaqiq, and another senior intelligence officer, Mohsen Bagheri, also lost their lives.

This is one of the most significant losses suffered by the Iranian security apparatus in recent years. The attack that struck the three officers took place in Tehran, where a Foreign Ministry building was reportedly hit by a missile, according to the semi-official Mehr News Agency.

Stated objective: to weaken Iran’s military capabilities

The IDF reiterated that the operation was aimed at destroying logistical and production capabilities related to the development and transfer of weapons. “Numerous weapons production sites across Iran were targeted,” the Israeli army said in an official statement, without specifying the exact number of locations involved.
