Tesla boss breaks with president after supporting his campaign. New budget bill, now under review by the Senate, in the crosshairs

Elon Musk distances himself from the federal budget promoted by the Trump administration and approved by the House last month, calling it a ‘disgusting abomination’ that risks sinking public finances. ‘I can no longer remain silent. Those who voted for this measure know they made the wrong choice,’ wrote the entrepreneur, launching a direct accusation at Republican lawmakers.

The bill, currently awaiting review in the Senate, provides for spending that Musk says will bring the deficit to $2.5 trillion, further exacerbating public debt and the tax burden on American families.

The founder of Tesla and SpaceX, who had supported Trump’s run for the White House, recently left his position in the Department of Government Efficiency, informally known as ‘Doge,’ as part of a reorganisation aimed at curbing public spending.

The White House reacted coolly to the criticism, with spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt stating that the president’s position remains unchanged. Just a week ago, Trump praised Musk’s commitment to reforming the state apparatus.
