Police say multiple people were taken to hospital after gunfire erupted during a night incident near the University of Iowa campus. No arrests have been made

Several people were injured in a shooting that occurred overnight near the University of Iowa, according to Iowa City police. Authorities confirmed that multiple victims were transported to hospital with gunshot wounds, while their conditions have not yet been released.

The Iowa City Police Department said officers were initially dispatched in response to reports of a “large fight” in the campus area. Upon arrival, officers reported hearing gunfire.

Police have not yet provided details on how many individuals were injured or the circumstances that led to the shooting. No arrests have been made.

The university also issued an emergency alert to students, warning of reports of gunfire in a nearby area known for nightlife activity in the college town.

Law enforcement officials said the investigation is ongoing, and the scene remains under review as authorities work to establish the sequence of events leading to the shooting.
