Trump will not recognise Palestinian state: official denial from Huckabee
The US ambassador in Jerusalem denies Jerusalem Post rumours about the president’s possible announcement during his upcoming trip to the Middle East
The US ambassador to Jerusalem, Mike Huckabee, has categorically denied reports circulating in some Israeli media, including the Jerusalem Post, that President Donald Trump is ready to recognise the Palestinian state during his upcoming trip to the Middle East.
‘The Jerusalem Post needs better sources than this unidentified ‘source’,’ Huckabee wrote on X, referring to an alleged Gulf diplomatic source quoted by the newspaper. ‘My 4-year-old nephew Teddy is more reliable. And trust Teddy. This news is nonsense, Israel has no better friend than the American president.’
The denial comes just days before Trump’s departure to the region, at a time when the Palestinian issue remains at the centre of geopolitical debate. The American embassy thus reiterates the administration’s firm line on Tel Aviv, denying any hypothesis of a diplomatic shift in favour of Ramallah.
