Parola chiave primaria: restrizioni carburante aeroporti Italia Parole chiave singole per WordPress: aeroporti, carburante, Italia, Bologna, Linate, Treviso, Venezia, Air Bp Italia, voli-- -- --Trump rilancia l’ultimatum all’Iran: “48 ore o sarà inferno”

US-Canada tariff war: Trudeau responds to Trump with 25 per cent tariffs and says ‘Stupid strategy’

Tensions rise between the US and Canada: Trudeau announces tariffs in response to those imposed by the US. Trump threatens further retaliatory measures

Tension between the US and Canada reaches new levels, with the US president imposing 25% tariffs on Canadian imports. In response, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the immediate imposition of retaliatory tariffs worth C$30 billion on US imports. Trudeau declared that Canada will not back down, calling the US tariffs ‘stupid’.

Trudeau: ‘We will not back down, Canada will defend its welfare’

In a press conference, Trudeau emphasised that Canada will not accept US trade aggression, stressing that his country will vigorously defend itself. He attacked Trump for starting a trade war with a long-standing ally, while accusing him of cooperating positively with Vladimir Putin’s Russia. Trudeau reiterated that Canada will not give in to US pressure, keeping tariffs in place until US duties are withdrawn.

Trump’s threat: new tariffs if Canada does not comply

To Canada’s reaction, Trump responded harshly, threatening further tariffs if Ottawa continues with its retaliatory policy. In a post on Truth, the president warned that any tariff increase by Canada will lead to a proportionate US response. Trump also criticised Trudeau, referring to him as a ‘Canadian governor’ and accusing him of wanting to damage bilateral relations.

Canada appeals to WTO, but tariffs remain in place

As tensions continue to rise, Trudeau announced that Canada will turn to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) to resolve the dispute. However, the PM made it clear that Canadian tariffs will remain in place until the US withdraws its duties. Trudeau also firmly stated that Canada will never become the ‘51st US state’, rejecting Trump’s alleged annexationist aims.
