Lukashenko proposes a Russia-US alliance for global peace
The Belarusian president suggests that a strategic alliance between Moscow and Washington could stabilise the world, and offers Minsk as a venue for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine
The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has stated that an alliance between Russia and the United States would not only be possible, but also extremely important to ensure global stability and prevent devastating wars, both in the Middle East and Ukraine. In a recent interview with an American blogger, Lukashenko stressed that such an alliance could bring significant benefits for both nations.
‘Nothing is impossible,’ Lukashenko said, adding that Russia, as a dominant military power, will always be an ally of the United States, while not being against anyone. Belarus, therefore, offers itself as a mediator, with Lukashenko offering to host peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, also involving US officials.
‘Tell Trump I expect him here with Putin and Zelensky,’ said the Belarusian president, proposing Minsk as an ideal venue for the talks.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also confirmed that Minsk is considered the most suitable place to host possible peace talks. While reiterating that the issue of the venue has not yet been officially discussed, Peskov called Belarus ‘Russia’s main ally’ and stressed Moscow’s favourable position regarding the Belarusian capital as a venue for the talks.
