Initially planned to release three people, but agreement between the parties led to a larger release. New negotiations underway for next phase

Six hostages, twice as many as the originally planned three, will be released on Saturday under the agreement reached between Hamas and Israel. In addition, the bodies of four other prisoners will be handed over on Thursday. Among the six freed are Avera Mengistu and Hisham al-Sayed, both Israelis who have been held in Gaza for more than a decade.

Hamas leader in Gaza, Khalil Al Hayya, explained that the release will be conditional on Israel fulfilling its commitments in the first phase of the agreement. An additional 24 hostages are expected to be freed in a second phase.

Israel begins new negotiations and withdraws part of its troops from Lebanon
The Israeli government confirmed the start of negotiations for a second phase of the agreement, which could include the release of additional hostages and the withdrawal of troops from Gaza.
