Stormy Daniels case: New York judge sets sentence for Trump on 10 January
The decision comes ten days before his inauguration as US president
A New York judge has set the sentencing for Donald Trump in the case involving porn star Stormy Daniels for 10 January 2025, just ten days before his official inauguration as US president. According to reports in the New York Times, Trump was found guilty by a jury, and the trial judge hinted that ‘unconditional release’ – i.e. without remand, fines or probation – would be the ‘most viable solution’ for the case.
Despite the guilty verdict, this decision could allow Trump to avoid any criminal consequences that would interfere with his return to the White House. The case has attracted much attention, especially in light of its timing, close to the swearing-in date of the new presidential term.
