San Francisco Power Outage Leaves 130,000 Without Electricity
The San Francisco power outage left over 130,000 people without electricity yesterday, affecting transportation and local events. 25,000 remain in the dark today
A massive San Francisco power outage yesterday left more than 130,000 residents without electricity, causing widespread disruption across the city. Among the consequences were the last-minute cancellation of The Nutcracker performance, interruptions to public transport, and a temporary suspension of Alphabet’s Waymo self-driving taxi service.
Sixteen hours after the blackout began, at 5 a.m. local time, Pacific Gas & Electric reported that 25,000 people were still without power. Mayor Daniel Lurie urged residents to stay home whenever possible due to safety concerns.
The San Francisco power outage affected both residential and commercial areas, highlighting vulnerabilities in the city’s electrical grid. Authorities and utility companies are working to restore service as quickly as possible.
