Peskov does not rule out a phone call between Putin and Trump. Meanwhile, Lavrov confirms Russian readiness for serious negotiations while US military aid to Kiev resumes via Poland
Russia is taking its time before deciding whether to accept the truce proposed by Ukraine and supported by the US, announcing that it is waiting for further details on the negotiations from Washington. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia does not rule out a ‘high-level’ phone call with the US, although there is currently no official request for talks between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
The Russian position and readiness for negotiations
After the recent talks between the US and Russian delegations in Jeddah, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed that the US wants normalisation of relations with Russia, with the protection of the national interests of both sides at the centre. Lavrov stressed that Washington appears ready to engage in serious negotiations, recognising the legitimate interests of Russia and other countries.
Resumption of military aid to Kiev via Poland
On the military front, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski confirmed the resumption of military aid flows from the US to Ukraine, after the temporary interruption decided by Trump. Supplies have returned to previous levels through the Jasionka logistics hub, which is crucial for the passage of 95% of military assistance destined for Kiev.
Raids on Odessa: the war continues
Despite negotiations, the war does not stop. An overnight attack by Russia against the port of Odessa resulted in the death of four Syrian crew members and the wounding of two others, including a Ukrainian employee.
