Israeli ground operations in Gaza: IDF creates buffer zone
Israeli forces launch operations in central and southern Gaza, while the Golani Brigade stands ready for future actions
Israeli forces (IDF) began a series of ground operations in central and southern Gaza today, Wednesday 19 March, with the aim of creating a buffer zone between the two main areas of the Palestinian enclave. After the end of the truce and yesterday’s shelling, Israeli troops entered the Netzarim Corridor, taking control of half of the area, up to the Salah a-Din Road, as reported by the Times of Israel.
The IDF also confirmed the deployment of the Golani Brigade in the southern part of the Gaza border, ready to take further action. ‘The IDF will continue to operate against terrorist organisations in the Gaza Strip to protect the citizens of the State of Israel,’ they stated. In a video, Israeli Minister Israel Katz issued an ultimatum to the residents of Gaza, urging them to follow the US president’s advice, hand over the hostages and remove Hamas, warning that this would be the last chance to prevent further violence.
