A medical jet crashed into a residential neighbourhood in north-east Philadelphia, causing an explosion and a large fire among homes. Four crew members were also on board the plane, which was carrying a little girl and her mother on their way back to Mexico after receiving treatment in the US.
The accident occurred shortly after take-off from Northeast Airport, as confirmed by the Federal Aviation Administration. The causes of the crash are not yet clear, but the crash triggered a violent fire, damaging multiple homes and vehicles in the area.
The mayor of Philadelphia, Cherelle Parker, told a press conference that there was no confirmation of the number of casualties at the moment, while local media reports mention several injuries. At least six people were transported to Temple University Hospital-Jeanes Campus, a hospital spokesman told CNN.
Authorities are working to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident and verify any further damage or people involved.
