The Israeli prime minister categorical against the idea of a Palestinian state in the territories where they are settled

In a recent interview with Channel 14, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggested that Saudi Arabia could create a Palestinian state on its territory, given the vast space available. Netanyahu stated that he will never make a deal that endangers the State of Israel, responding to those who reminded him that Riyadh makes the creation of a Palestinian state a condition for normalising relations with Israel.

Criticism of the Palestinian State Concept

Netanyahu commented on the idea of a Palestinian state after 7 October, citing Gaza as a negative example. ‘There was a Palestinian state, it was called Gaza, led by Hamas. And look what we got: the biggest massacre since the Holocaust,’ the premier said during the interview in Washington. These words were spoken in a context in which Trump announced he was working on a plan for US control of a Gaza emptied of Palestinians.

Trump’s Plan for Gaza

In a video shot at his hotel and quoted by the Times of Israel, Netanyahu said that US President Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip was ‘worth listening to carefully’. According to Netanyahu, Trump’s idea on Gaza is the first original idea presented in years.

Netanyahu stressed that Republican and Democratic leaders in Congress are united on two key points: preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and eliminating Hamas from the Gaza Strip. ‘Hamas must be eliminated. It cannot be present in Gaza,’ the Israeli prime minister added.
