Three Israeli female hostages freed by Hamas: end of a nightmare for Romi Emily and Doron
Romi Gonen, Emily Damari and Doron Steinbrecher released after more than a year in captivity. They have already embraced their parents. Then hospitalisation is necessary to fully verify their health condition
The release of Romi Gonen, Emily Damari and Doron Steinbrecher marks the end of a nightmare that began on 7 October 2023. The three women, held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, were released today, shortly after 17:15 local time. After being handed over to the International Red Cross in Gaza, they were transferred to a rendezvous point agreed with the Israeli Army, which took custody of them.
Initial medical examinations indicated that their health conditions were overall good. Subsequently, the three women were transported inside Israeli territory, where they received further treatment. They will soon be reunited with their families, but are expected to spend a period of observation in an Israeli hospital to better assess their health and provide psychological support. Meanwhile, however, the IDF has assured that the three women have already met their mothers and fathers.
The release is a moment of great relief for their families and the entire country, closing a painful chapter that began during the 7 October attack.
