Israeli hostage Arbel Yehoud appears in video ahead of his release
300,000 displaced people return to northern Gaza as Arbel Yehoud appears in a reassuring video ahead of his release, expected Thursday along with two other hostages
The Hamas government in Gaza announced that 300,000 displaced people have returned to the north of the Strip, after the opening of the Netzarim corridor for passage to the northern part of the enclave.
Meanwhile, Islamic Jihad released a video of Arbel Yehoud, one of the Israelis kidnapped by Hamas during the 7 October 2023 attack. In the clip, Yehoud reassures her family, saying she is ‘fine’ and hopes to return home soon, like the other kidnapped girls. The video, dated 25 January, was filmed two days before its release.
Yehoud, together with surveillance soldier Agam Berger and another hostage, will be released on Thursday, as part of the agreement between Israel and Hamas. This release is expected following negotiations involving several parties.
The situation, although delicate, is showing signs of gradual evolution, with the hostage exchange as a symbol of a possible detente in relations between the two factions.
