
Chairlift accident in the Pyrenees: at least 30 injured, 17 in serious condition
Severe injuries after a chairlift malfunction in the Astún ski resort in Spain
An accident on a chairlift in the ski resort of Astún, located in the Spanish Pyrenees, left several people injured. According to the emergency services, at least nine people are in a very serious condition, while eight others are in a serious condition. The accident occurred at around 12 noon and, although the exact number of injured people has not yet been confirmed, there is talk of at least 30 people being involved.
Several emergency teams, including helicopters and units of the Civil Guard, police, Red Cross, Civil Defence and fire brigade, intervened. Preliminary investigations suggest a malfunction of a chairlift pulley.
