The Secretary of State praises the US President: ‘He is the ultimate negotiator.’ Meanwhile, Russia shoots down nearly 100 Ukrainian drones overnight

Donald Trump is ready to take a tougher stance with Moscow in order to end the war in Ukraine. This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in an interview with Fox News, in which he described the US president as ‘the ultimate negotiator’ and hinted at possible economic sanctions against Russia.

“Despite the good talks with Putin, they never lead to anything. The time has come to act,‘ Rubio said, emphasising Trump’s determination to reach a peace agreement to resolve a conflict he would have ’inherited from the Biden administration”.

According to the Secretary of State, Trump has given Russia 50 days to reach an agreement, threatening punitive tariffs if it fails to do so, albeit less severe than those proposed by other senators. Rubio also pointed the finger at China, accusing it of providing military support to Moscow ‘without being detected,’ especially through the purchase of oil.

‘Beijing has every interest in prolonging the conflict to distract the United States. It is moving in coordination with Russia and Iran in a new strategic alliance,’ he added.

Meanwhile, on the military front, the Russian Defence Ministry reported that it had intercepted 99 Ukrainian drones overnight in various regions of the country, including Bryansk, Rostov and Crimea, in what is one of the most massive waves since the start of the war. No damage or casualties were reported.

On the other hand, Ukrainian authorities reported new Russian bombings of civilian targets in Sumy, where at least three people were injured. At least two civilians died in previous attacks in the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

In this climate, Moscow decided to cancel the Navy’s naval parade scheduled for today in St. Petersburg, officially for ‘security reasons.’ This was announced by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
