The outgoing Prime Minister of Greenland, Mute Egede, announces a firm response to Donald Trump’s statements regarding the annexation of the island
In a firm reaction to Donald Trump’s statements on the annexation of Greenland to the United States, outgoing Prime Minister Mute Egede announced that he will convene party leaders ‘as soon as possible’. The meeting will be held to reinforce the Greenlandic government’s position of rejection of the US president’s words. ‘This time we must strengthen our rejection of Trump’s words,’ Egede wrote on Facebook, adding that it is crucial not to allow further disrespect for the territory and its sovereignty.
An uncompromising rejection
Trump’s words on the Arctic island have provoked a strong reaction in Greenland, with many local politicians reiterating their desire to keep the territory out of US influence.
