One man arrested, police search for second suspect. Among the wounded are family members of the defendant

Today, Feb. 26, a shooting occurred in front of the regional court in Bielefeld, a town in Germany, during the trial for the murder of professional boxer Besar Nimani. According to reports in the German newspaper Bild, several people were injured, and at least one was resuscitated by rescue teams who responded promptly.

The context of the accident

The incident occurred in the midst of a crucial moment in the trial of Huseyin Akkurt, who is accused of killing Besar Nimani on March 9 last year in Bielefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia. The shooting took place around 1:30 p.m. at the end of the opening hearing. Law enforcement responded promptly, arresting one man at the scene, while the search for a second suspect continues.

The injured and the suspects

According to information gathered by Bild, at least two of the injured are relatives of Huseyin Akkurt. One of the relatives was reportedly shot in the leg, while another suffered a serious chest injury. The condition of the injured has not been disclosed at this time, but some injuries are feared to be serious.

Ongoing investigation

German police are trying to shed light on the dynamics of the accident. Investigators have arrested one man, but are still looking for a possible second suspect who may be connected to the shooting. At the moment, the investigation is focusing on the motivations and circumstances that led to the use of weapons during a tense moment related to Nimani’s murder trial.
