Trump’s special envoy for Russia and Ukraine has announced that Marc Fogel, a US citizen detained in Russia, has left Russian airspace and is on his way to the US. The White House confirmed that Fogel will be on US soil by the evening and will be reunited with his family thanks to Trump’s diplomatic efforts.

The White House disclosed that President Trump, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and the president’s advisers negotiated an exchange that serves as a show of good faith on the part of the Russians. ‘This exchange is a sign that we are moving in the right direction to end the brutal and terrible war in Ukraine,’ the White House said in an official note.

Commitment to the Return of Detained Americans

Trump stated that he will continue to work for the return of all Americans detained abroad. This diplomatic success is seen as an important step in building more positive relations between the US and Russia.
