A South Korean court has issued an arrest warrant for suspended President Yoon Suk Yeol, accused of attempting to impose martial law on 3 December. The office leading the investigation announced the issuance of the arrest and search warrant, but did not set a timetable for further proceedings. This decision represents a historical fact, as it is the first time a sitting South Korean president has faced legal action on such a scale.
Yoon, who was suspended from office following his impeachment vote by the National Assembly on 14 December, is awaiting the ruling of the Constitutional Court, which is due to rule by mid-June. Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Bureau is conducting searches at the Military Counter-Intelligence Command as part of the investigation into the failed attempt to impose martial law, which Yoon had called off a few hours after the announcement due to strong political and popular pres
