Pope Francis, the night was quiet: medical bulletin expected this evening
The Vatican updates on the health of the Pontiff, who has been hospitalised with bilateral pneumonia for over a month. Prudence on the part of the doctors, despite improvements
Pope Francis spent a quiet night, the Vatican announced this morning. The Pontiff has been hospitalised at the Policlinico Gemelli since 14 February due to bilateral pneumonia. Despite the prognosis released by the doctors, the Holy Father’s health condition remains stable in a complex clinical picture, characterised by caution, given that Francis is 88 years old and has several frailties.
A new medical bulletin is expected this evening, but the doctors prefer not to rush it. According to the Vatican Press Office, the situation has not yet entered a ‘new phase’. Time is needed for the Pope’s energy to fully recover, with doctors constantly monitoring certain parameters while waiting for improvements.
In the meantime, yesterday, on the occasion of the twelfth anniversary of his pontificate, Pope Francis was celebrated by the Gemelli medical staff with a cake in his room on the tenth floor.
