Federica Brignone triumphs in the overall Alpine Skiing World Cup, taking her second title thanks to the cancellation of the downhill at Sun Valley. The Italian champion also wins the downhill cup and confirms her supremacy

Federica Brignone has written another chapter in her extraordinary career, winning the overall World Cup for women’s alpine skiing for the second time. A success that came without the need to take to the slopes, as the planned downhill in Sun Valley, the last stage of the season, was cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions. An unexpected ending that allowed the Valle d’Aosta Carabiniere to secure the title well in advance.

Her performance, however, was not limited to this triumph. In fact, Brignone also won the Downhill Specialty Cup, further consolidating her dominance in the fast disciplines. With 1454 points in the overall ranking, Brignone trailed Lara Gut-Behrami, second with 1072 points, by a good 382 points. A gap that testifies to the perseverance and determination of the Italian champion.

In the speciality ranking, Brignone continues to dominate with 384 points, ahead of Austria’s Cornelia Huetter (368 points) and compatriot Sofia Goggia, who finished third with 350 points. This success adds yet another gem to her already prestigious career, confirming her role as the pinnacle of international women’s alpine skiing.
