Operation ‘Iron Wall’ in Jenin: Israel intensifies operations against terrorism
While the truce in Gaza holds, Israeli forces launch a vast offensive in the West Bank, aiming to combat terrorism in Jenin
The Israeli military operation in Jenin, dubbed the ‘Iron Wall’, began today with the intention of combating terrorism in the Palestinian city in the occupied West Bank. The operation was initiated by order of the political-security cabinet and involves the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), the Shin Bet and the Israel Police. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that this operation is part of a broader effort to strengthen security in Judea and Samaria, and to combat Iranian influence in various regions of the Middle East, including Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the operation left two people dead and 25 wounded. Hamas responded by urging Palestinians in the West Bank to intensify their fighting against Israel, calling for an escalation of actions throughout the region.
The escalation of Israeli operations comes as the truce in Gaza, at least for the moment, seems to be holding, but the situation in other areas remains tense. The escalation of the conflict in the West Bank and the responses of Hamas indicate continued instability in the region.
