Israel bombs the Bekaa Valley: two dead in Lebanon despite truce
Night raids against Hezbollah targets in the east of the country. Beirut reports 10 wounded
Israel carried out air strikes during the night on the Bekaa valley in eastern Lebanon, killing at least two people and wounding ten others. This was reported by the Lebanese Ministry of Health, denouncing the action as a violation of the truce in force since last November.
Israel: ‘Hezbollah targets hit’
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) claimed to have hit ‘several targets of Hezbollah’, a pro-Iranian Shia militia active in the region. Despite the operation, the Jewish state reiterated its commitment to respecting the truce.
The attacks were concentrated in the Janta area, considered one of Hezbollah’s strongholds. In recent months, the area has been the scene of tensions, with repeated exchanges of fire between the two sides, despite the ceasefire agreement.
